Shalla and Floyd are on a pilgrimage to Hedon’s End, an enormous crag on the outskirts of the Countryside, for the annual purge upon the Slumbering Stake. Floyd’s suspicions of the event are challenged as Shalla enlightens him of its importance as they near the crag. They arrive to a massive crowd of Denizens trying to unearth the Stake as Shalla delves Floyd into a fever dream, but the nightmarish festival comes to a halt when the Slumbering Stake retaliates against the Denizens.
